Afterschool and Breakfast Programme

RICC After-school and Breakfast Programme were set up to meet the needs of children and families in the local area. The purpose of the After-school and breakfast club is to provide quality, affordable and accessible childcare for school age children in the local community.

The service operates during the school term and is open for 38 weeks per annum. The breakfast club runs from Monday to Friday and The After-school is Monday - Thursday from 2:30 - 4:30. All children from both St. Patrick’s Boys and St. Patrick’s Girls National Schools can avail of the Breakfast Club, which provides a nourishing breakfast for children in the community. RICC After-school Programme has 40 places available to children. The After-school provides a nourishing lunch, supervised homework, educational support and recreational activities. The After-school creates and supports opportunities to take part in numerous activities such as sports, arts & crafts, baking etc. or children aged 6-12.

This is a vital programme to children and families in our community. RICC work closely with the School Completion Coordinators, Home School Liaison Officer and Sonas Housing, to ensure the children from the targeted list are engaged and given support.

The practice of this service is informed and underpinned by the Childcare Act 1991 (Early Years Services) (Registration of School Aged Services) Regulations 2018. Furthermore, this service works off child protection and safeguarding policies.
